THE GREAT BALDINI: SHOWMAN + ILLUSIONATI
A double-bill of magic shows from The Great Baldini.
SHOWMAN: Magic from the Maestro
Legendary magician the Great Baldini tells his life story through a series of stage illusions, from his first trick on his 12th birthday to his career pinnacle rivalling the great Houdini. Each chapter is built around a very entertaining, colourful and theatrical illusion with significant audience participation. Whilst the magic can be a bit hit-and-miss and Baldini’s old trouper’s spirit is sorely tested, the audience is often helpless with laughter as Baldini desperately attempts to hold it together and soldier on. He’s an aging ham, determined that the show must go on. This adds a level of comedy and theatre beyond a simple magic performance.
ILLUSIONATI: A Magical Conspiracy
The Great Baldini (‘Emperor of Illusion’, ‘Prince of Prestidigitation’, and ‘Maharajah of Mystery’) is a magical legend, a music-hall relict and an old-school theatrical performer. Baldini is also the head of the shadowy and sinister ILLUSIONATI – a group of elite magicians influencing the world through the use of the magical dark arts. In “ILLUSIONATI” he reveals (and demonstrates) how this evil cabal use magic to fix games of chance, steal elections, and orchestrate assassinations. The next wholly (im)plausible (magical) conspiracy theory. Imagine Tommy Cooper meets Blofeld.
The illusions are excellent.
Baldini is an award-winning member of the Magic Circle, Wessex Magical Association and Bristol Society of Magic.
